The traditional cake-shop/cafe Buchwald can be found at the northern edge of the Tiergarten, directly in front of Moabiter Bridge and just a few minutes walk from Schloss Bellevue on a pleasant path beside the Spree. The firm, founded in 1852, used to supply the court and still maintains a solid, traditional cafe culture. House specialities are the home-made Baumkuchen. The sales area is decorated with these black and white cakes which are piled up in the windows in a wide range of sizes. You may count yourself especially lucky if, on a fine day, you manage to get one of the few seats in the charming little front garden. |
