This boat restaurant is in a branch of the Landwehr Canal on the edge of Tiergarten, just below the Strasse des 17. Juni, which is still mainly devoid of public
houses. Although the boat is only a few steps from the fleamarket, it is not easy to find. The first clues are at the foot of the Charlottenburg Tor, facing the market on the opposite side of the
street. A wooden path under tall trees takes the visitor down to the
water-side, away from the noise of heavy traffic to the comfort of the boat’s deck, shaded from the
sun. After a visit to the fleamarket or a long stroll through the Tiergarten, the Capt’n Schillow can be reached from Lichtensteinbrücke (Lichtenstein Bridge) along the towpath left and right of the Landwehrkanal. One can choose between a snack on deck or a formal meal in the boat’s dining
room. |
